TRANSIT AUTHORITY OF RIVER CITY ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT

The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) recognizes the crucial role it has to play in improving Louisville's environmental quality of life. In keeping with its mission, TARC will explore any opportunity to enhance the environmental well being of the Greater Louisville community.

Each member of the TARC team is empowered and encouraged to be an environmental steward through the use of the following principles:
  • Communicate: Take every opportunity to educate the public on the benefits of transit and how riding TARC reduces pollution. Share knowledge with each other and our partners about how our work may impact the environment and how each of us can contribute to achieving our environmental goals.
  • Reduce, Reuse and Recycle: Look for ways to reduce our consumption of resources (fuel, electricity, water and time, e.g.), to reduce waste, to reuse materials and to recycle. Show a preference for products that reuse resources or are made from recycled materials.
  • Comply: Strive to exceed the environmental standards set by Federal, State and local environmental regulatory bodies by continually improving our environmental management system and regularly reviewing our environmental objectives and targets.
Every member of the TARC team has the right and the responsibility to assist with the implementation and maintenance of this policy.

This policy will be reviewed annually. The Executive Director and the Board of Directors of TARC must approve revisions.
