TARC Announces Changes to Service in Response to COVID-19

March 18, 2021

In partnership with local officials, as well as the national offices of the Federal Transit Administration, the American Public Transportation Association, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, TARC is continuing its efforts to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.

With a priority on the safety and health of our riders and our drivers, TARC is making the following service reductions, based on rider changes, beginning Friday, March 20:

The University of Louisville campus shuttle (Route #94), Second Street/airport service (Route #02), and the LouLift circulator (Routes #01 & #77) will suspend service until further notice.

The Riverport circulator (Route #20), Preston Highway service (Route #28), Health Sciences Center Campus circulator (Route #96), and UPS service (Routes #93 & #99) will continue to operate as normal.

TARC3, our paratransit service will also continue to operate as normal at this time.

All other routes will run Saturday service schedules from Monday through Saturday, and Sunday service on Sundays until further notice.

We provide a crucial service to the community and we take that responsibility seriously; we want to continue to serve that role as effectively as possible with the health and safety of both our passengers and our team members top-of-mind,” said Laura Douglas, TARC Co-Executive Director.

To practice the importance of social distancing and crowd reduction, TARC will be monitoring ridership on highly utilized routes and adding buses where necessary. As the situation continues to develop, TARC will determine if additional reductions in service are needed.

PLEASE NOTE: TARC provides real-time travel information via the TARC Trip Planner at ridetarc.org, our mobile app, and additional third party services. Please be aware scheduled service information may not immediately reflect this service reduction. However, customers can still utilize real-time information services through these platforms.

All fixed-route buses and TARC3 vehicles are being cleaned and sanitized daily in accordance with CDC guidelines. TARC has posted infographics from Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness on all buses encouraging both riders and drivers to take important steps to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19, and the importance of frequent hand washing, covering coughs, and staying home if feeling sick.
